In the Christian Bible, prophecies are conditional, based upon a person or people's:
1) Obedience or disobedience to God (see Deuteronomy 28)
2) Faith and belief or unbelief in God (see Romans 4:16)
So why didn't this prophecy come to pass? For one reason, and one reason only: LACK OF FAITH and BELIEF that GOD
COULD MAKE IT COME TO PASS!
Note that in mid 2005, almost everybody, Christian or not, was putting their bets on $4.00 per gallon gasoline
prices for 2005. But the prices on the low end never hit above $2.99 per gallon (at least in the S. Californina area). The
rising prices just stopped. Why? Because God (who is Jesus Christ) stopped them from going up based on the
belief of those who heard this prophecy of lower gasoline prices and believed it.
Why didn't the prices go all the way down to $.79 per gallon as prophesied? Because the unbelief of the many outweighed the belief of the few, though the belief of the few was able to get the prices
down to $2.05 per gallon (in S. California) by New Year's Eve of 2005.
Let's take a look at an incident in the Bible that really shows this fact in motion:
THE GOSPEL OF MARK, CHAPTER 6
6 Jesus left that part of the country and returned with his disciples to Nazareth, His hometown.
2 The next Sabbath he began teaching in the synagogue, and many who heard
him were astonished. They asked, "Where did he get all his wisdom and the power to perform such miracles? 3 He’s just the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon.
And his sisters live right here among us." They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him. [NOTE
THIS RIGHT HERE! >>>]4 Then Jesus told them, "A
prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown [or country] and among his relatives and his own family [or
his people/countrymen]." 5 And because of their unbelief, he couldn’t
do any mighty miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6 And he was amazed at their unbelief.
God himself, walking in a human body called Jesus, is right next to these stubborn people, IN PERSON! And they still
didn't believe He could pull it off! Why not? Jesus is God. He can do anything, right? Right! BUT...
because of the rules He set for this kingdom here on earth regarding belief and unbelief, these rules applied to Him as well
- Him being born in a human body, bound under the same laws He set for us.
